Cuban Fashion
Every Caribbean has his own fashion statement and the Cubans are no exception to it. Lack of resources has not deterred the Cubans from demonstrating their fashion skills.

Let’s see one by one –

General- Body art viz tattooing goes without saying. It may be Che, Jesus or the holy cross on the forearm /bicep of men. Women are satisfied with flowers and eagles on the back of their shoulder and on the back of the waist. I have found out one litmus test to detect a Cuban amongst people from hundred nationalities. The Cuban puts his goggles (goggles are a must in Cuba’s fashion world)/spectacles on the forehead. The resting position of these spectacles is on the top of the head.

Sporting gold crowns on the teeth serves two purposes – shows that you have money and secondly it helps to attract the opposite sex .This is more common amongst teenagers. English is really a foreign language in this Spanish speaking paradise. Don’t be surprised and dare for invitations on T shirts and pants at all the attractive places like enjoy, come on etc.

Men- Jeans, Three fourth jeans, Bermuda and T shirts is the general dress code of this tropical country . In most of the cases the Cuban will love to go topless to show his muscular body and also to get away from the scorching heat. Majority of Cubans will sport wrist watches which may not necessarily function, so don’t be surprised when such an individual asks you for the exact time.

Women – To summarize the Cuban ladies fashion, I would like to say that the cubanas( Spanish word for Cuban ladies) are the true the soldiers of the Battle of Savings. They ensure that that they do not utilize more cloth than that is required to cover the important parts of the body. However let me give my honest opinion that the dress sense of the Cuban girls is the best and their dresses act as catalyst to further enrich the look of their beautiful bodies. Females of each society have a craze of working on one or two aspects of their body. As in Mexico it is the eyebrows and hair, here in Cuba are the nails. A girl with no nail paint and long nails will be rare specie. As I don’t like much people with nail paint so here I will stop my commentary on this issue.

People in white-

One very special category which you will find difficult to ignore is the cult of the people wearing white dress. From top to bottom all the things they wear are white including the umbrella. This is more for religious and fashion reasons to reserve a seat in heaven.
