La Botella in Cuba
La Botella in Cuba
La Botella- Botella is a Spanish word for bottle. But in Cuba it means a lift. The public Transport system in cuba is very poor. Everyday one can see beautiful young girls standing in the road side asking for ‘a botella’. Men (young and not so young!!) are more than pleased to offer a botella.
People have to wait for an hour or more to get the bus. China has Supplied about 700 Yongton buses to Cuba. 500 more buses would arrive by December 2007. The cost of a bus ticket is about 40 cubano centavos –equivalent to 80 Indian paise.Taxi service is very costly. Special Cubano share taxis costs about 10 cubano pesos .

5) Every Problem in Cuba can be ‘RESOLVED’.
Colourful Number Plates in Cuba

3) Yellow- Cuban Nationals
4) Orange-Commercial Firm and Employees
5) Red- Lost Number Plate

'Jugaad Technology ' in Cuba
After the fall of the USSR, Cuban Economy suffered heavily. They had a tough life with availability of essential goods and services. This time frame in the 1990s is called as the Special Period in Cuba.
Due to lack of spareparts and ther goods each Cuban has evolved into an expert motor mechanic, electrician and technician. It is a very common scene to see a cuban repairing something in front of his house-a mixer or a vehicle . Jugaad(the Indian Term to resolve things) is at its peak in cuba from anything to using a LADA engine fro MERCEDES BENZ, using a small motor to run the bicycle on mechanical power or making wooden boats to face the brunt of the mighty sea etc etc.
Everything in Cuba can 'be resolved' with the intelligence and strong character of the cuban people.
Nobody is Old
Nobody is Old
In Latin America and the Carribean the concept of age has a different meaning. In this region nobody is old. Everyone is young at heart . Be it a 70+ or otherwise he/she will dress and maintain himself /herself like a teenager. I have seen in Mexico city and in Havana, that even a lady as old as 75 will dress like RedRidingHood and will never shy to shake her legs when he/
This is the way one should be be. Live Life to the fullest extent with enjoyment and peace of mind.
